Reschke R S R Coonawarra Cabernet 2020 3 pack
Reschke’s close relationship with Coonawarra began in 1906 with the establishment of a prime Hereford stud in the heart of the region. This cattle grazing heritage is reflected in the Reschke bull logo, and the names of the premium Reschke wines: Bos, Vitulus, Bull Trader. The rich terra rossa soils produced lush pastures and the cattle from the Reschke estate became sought after across Australia. The same soils now produce grapes that capture the unique characters of the Coonawarra.
Burke Reschke, the fourth generation to work the land in Coonawarra, started developing vineyards and growing grapes for other wineries on the Reschke estate in 1989. The resulting fruit was so exceptional it was coveted by many wineries and used in some of Australia’s iconic wines. The ‘Reschke Special Reserve’ is a limited-release Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from a selection of our very best Estate Grown grapes in the heart of Coonawarra, resulting in the production of a truly exceptional wine.
This rich and fruit-driven parcel of hand-selected Cabernet fruit exhibits a deep ruby red colour alongside aromas of ripe-dark fruits. The palate presents flavours of mulberry, blackcurrant, and juicy plum complemented by hints of pepper spice. The wine provides a full-bodied structure that is beautifully balanced by silky tannins and excellent varietal characteristics – for that lasting impression.
"There is little doubt that this is a bit special. The grapes are the best the Estate offers, from their Henry Albert vineyard, planted in 1998 in Coonawarra. The wine spends 18 months in French oak hogsheads, before barrel selection determines the final wine. Dark, almost mysteriously so, this wine offers notes of mocha, chocolate, coffee beans, soy, florals and spices with fully integrated oak. This is balanced, intense and yet elegant. A wine with finesse. Silky tannins, exceptional length, the palate sees the emergence of violets and aniseed notes. This will provide pleasure for eight to fifteen years with ease. Drink: 2023 - 2038; Price: $75.00; Rating: 95 Points; Ken Gargett"
"The user-friendly 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is immediately expressive as it delivers vibrant blackcurrants and violets aromas with a dusting of dried herbs. Good upfront concentration follows. A fine seam of tannins keeps the attractive texture in shape. It's close to peak now but will hold for a little while. Drink: 2024 - 2030; Rating: 92 Points; Vinous"
