Stonewell Shiraz -The story of Stonewell Shiraz began in 1987 when Peter Lehmann decided to make a special Shiraz - a wine of immense intensity and muscularity that would demand time in the barrel and bottle before release. The wine was named ‘Stonewell’ after the district that he believed best showed the characters admired most in Barossa Shiraz. This tradition has continued and each vintage the best Shiraz fruit from our extensive network of growers is chosen to create Stonewell. Usually no more than a dozen small, old vineyards are selected each year, the oldest planted in 1885. The berries are small and sparse with crops typically less than 1.5 tonnes per acre. The pedigree of these vineyards and the knowledge that has been passed from each grape growing generation to the next assures us that Stonewell Shiraz is a wine of great longevity that can be cellared with confidence for many years to come.
Margaret Semillon-The Masters wines are named after a person whom, or event that, has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story. Crafted from the classic Barossa varietals, the wines are released with 5 years of bottle age and will continue to age gracefully for many years. Margaret Lehmann is the great woman beside the great man: wife, business partner, and champion of Peter Lehmann Wines and the Barossa Valley. Peter Lehmann winemakers rewrote the rulebooks of Barossa Semillon in the early 90s, eschewing oak and opting for an early-picked style that lent itself to ageing. The result is Margaret Semillon. Released after five years cellaring, it has youthful lemongrass aromas and citrus acidity that belie its age; and complexity you would expect from an aged white with a bountiful trophy cabinet.
Botrytis Semillon-Peter Lehmann's story with Noble Semillon goes back many years, when Andrew Wigan had the good fortune of experiencing vintage within the vineyards at Chateau d'Yquem, home to the greatest sweet white wine in the world. What he had assumed to be spoilage, was in fact Botrytis Cinerea. Traditionally, Botrytis affected wines are the most complex and longest lived of all. The Barossa Valley is an ideal region for late harvest, given the quality of local Semillon and the warm conditions that continue well into vintage. With the Barossa’s warm lingering summers, it is a natural home for Botrytis cinerea, used to masterfully craft this wine and show diversity of Semillon. A dessert wine with a luscious palate of dried apricots, lemon marmalade and toffee characters, balanced by a soft finish of lemon acidity.
