Mitolo Wines is a family owned business, borne of and led by the founder and owner Frank Mitolo's vision; to create a range of wines of individuality, integrity and utmost quality. From vineyard sourcing to high quality winemaking techniques, the wines are handcrafted to ensure the individual nuances of each variety is maintained. In the search for purity of flavour, only the best quality fruit and fine-grained oak is used to make elegant wines of intense richness and complexity.

Rich and concentrated, deliciously fleshy and full bodied with plush yet granular texture. The fruits of the nose carry through on the palate and complex savoury notes develop in the glass, adding layers to the wine. Firm yet supportive tannins marry perfectly, giving ample structure and length, delivering a smooth, dry-textured finish.

Destemmed and crushed to 8 tonne open fermenters, with twice daily pump overs throughout ferment. Temperatures were kept cool, between 20 and 24˚ C in an attempt to extract the tannin, colour and flavour very softly. Once pressed, the wine was transferred to 30% new French, 10% new American and 60% seasoned oak Hogs Heads, undergoing natural malolactic fermentation and barrel maturation for 18 months. The final wine was bottled without fining and receiving only light filtration.

Lopresti Home Block Vineyard - Flour Mill Road, Whites Valley, McLaren Vale.

Located in close proximity to the Gulf of St Vincent in the Whites Valley district of McLaren Vale between the towns of Willunga and Aldinga. Black and grey Biscay clays predominate, sitting over alluvial Ngaltinga formation. Sea breezes mediate day time heat while the cracking clays reduce vigour during the critical ripening period. These factors help to produce a wine of depth and concentration.

95 POINTS
Deep, dark red/purple colour, with a bouquet of fresh herbs and blood plum, vivid and concentrated, with ample soft tannins in harmony with the fruit flavour, and a long, long carry. A big wine with richness, concentration, and a big future ahead of it.
HUON HOOKE, THE REAL REVIEW. MARCH 2021

95 POINTS
Offering dark fruit richness with warm spice, game, floral and cedar nuances, the wine shows outstanding weight and intensity backed by silky texture and fine-grained tannins. It’s mouthfilling and immensely satisfying with a persistent engaging finish. At its best: 2022 to 2038.
