Lost Penny Four Coins Blend 2020

Nick and Carol Riebke are extremely proud and excited to join together as a family to produce their very own premium Barossa wines. All from the same family blocks in Ebenezer, Barossa Valley, that their family has worked since the late 1800s. But, the story of Lost Penny Wines has deep roots.

It began five generations ago, after their ancestors came to the Barossa to escape religious persecution in Germany. They brought with them Shiraz cuttings on the ship, with the hope of beginning a new life. For Nick and Carol their combined knowledge, passion, family heritage and dedication to preserving Barossa winemaking traditions have all been poured into Lost Penny Wines.

The Four Coins blend is quite different and offers a lot of fun and interest. With Cabernet Sauvignon as the dominant player, this gives a great backbone to provide support and structure for the other varieties to impart their store fruit flavours. 

The growing season for the 2020 vintage started dry and continued that way. Much of the rainfall was below average for all the months. The 2019 calendar year was the driest on record for the Nuriootpa weather station. With the extreme weather conditions through November and into December saw below average bunch size and smaller than normal berry size. The flavours and colours and overall quality is exceptional.

Four coins is a unique blend of four grape varieties, which has become a hit with many. Cabernet Sauvignon to give it structure, Shiraz to add fruit fullness, Merlot for sweetness and Grenache just to just give it that little bit more. A fabulous food wine with great interest, we hope you enjoy something that’s just a little bit different.
