Kaesler Alte Reben Shiraz 2014
Kaesler Alte Reben Shiraz 2014
Alte Reben, meaning ‘Old Vines’’, demonstrates of the power and flavour of the older vines from the Kaesler estate. This wine is produced entirely from grapes grown in their Marananga vineyard planted in 1899. Not many can boast custody of a nine acre, single vineyard of Shiraz planted in the nineteenth century – They make the most of it. The wine is aged in new French oak Puncheons.
Perfectly balanced, very fresh, but at the same time, intense. Mild acidity on the palate combined with fine tannins. Dominated by shades of rhubarb and pomegranate and light shades of chocolate milk, now just starting to show some aged characteristics with a long life still ahead.
The first release of this wine was the 2010 vintage. The vineyard, located off Jenke Road, was established in 1899, with its western soil combining schist rock over blue grey clay, and goes into making the Bogan, our old vine shiraz. Alte Reben is rich and voluptous and standing right on its feet. It’s an attractive wine and will age with grace."- Kaesler
