The Grant Burge Wines Filsell vineyard of near century old vines is considered one of the best vineyards in the Barossa Valley, and consistently produces fruit of incredible intensity and concentration. Planted in 1920, the Filsell vineyard also produces some of the fruit for the highly acclaimed Meshach Shiraz, making the Filsell Shiraz a sought-after younger brother to loyal followers.

'Filsell has long been regarded as one of the region’s most Iconic Barossa Shiraz. Today, this wine continues to herald the legacy through careful vineyard selection and meticulous wine making' Craig Stansborough, Chief Winemaker.

2014

'This release is very much in the established Filsell style, but it’s a better rendition of it than we’ve seen from recent vintages. So maybe it is long-awaited after all, in that we’ve long waited for a decent release. This is rich, plush, dark and hearty, all of which you’d expect from Filsell, but it’s also well balanced and velvety. There’s a lot of toasty, coffeed, almost milky oak, but it’s matched to a dark vein of plum-drenched fruit. Saltbush notes add an extra element. Tannin is modest but just assertive enough. In short, if you enjoy old school Barossa shiraz; this nails it.'
94 Points, Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front

2015

"The 2015 Filsell Shiraz has an incredible depth of colour, deep purple red to the core. The nose displays aromas of blueberry, plum, dark chocolate, mocha and vanilla. The sensual, full-bodied palate offers rich flavours of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. The tannins provide excellent balance and structure to the richness of the palate. This is a highly expressive Filsell, which certainly makes a statement."
95 Points, James Halliday, 2018 Australian Wine Companion

2016

"A ball of concentration, from the black fruit flavours, chocolate, licorice and tar on the full-bodied palate to the integrated oak - 21 months in French and American oak (30% new) and yet it doesn't drag you down. Ample tannins, too, so this will reward the patient, yet with a suppleness that makes it approachable in its youth." 94 Points, James Halliday"
