Bowen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Bowen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Bowen Estate with another great vintage Australian Cabernet from the famed Coonawarra region. The 2016 growing season was very dry, with below average winter rains. A warm October advanced the season through to harvest by two weeks. Good flower set in November resulted in slightly above average yields and the mild days and cool nights in February and March extended the ripening period producing well balanced fruit across all varieties. Despite the early season the fruit developed full palate depth, lovely tannins, complex fruit characters and excellent colour. Another very good vintage from Bowen Estate.
The ideal vintage conditions set this wine up from its inception to achieve high standards. All the classic Coonawarra hallmarks are evident in the wine and ensure absolute pleasure on consumption. On the nose lovely dark berry characters are finely integrated with the subtle French oak nuances. The Coonawarra hallmarks continue through to the palate with long fine tannins giving structure to the wine and supporting beautifully balanced fruit flavours entwined with lively spice structure. A fine wine for any cellar.
"The 2016 Coonawarra vintage was a ripper, and the miracle is that this wine’s price is still under AUD $40 and has barely risen over the years. Deep, dark youthful red/purple, with a powerful blackberry aroma neatly augmented by fine oak. Very full-bodied, firm and structured. Great persistence; awesome power. 95 points Huon Hooke"
