As one of Australia’s oldest and continuously family-owned and operated wineries, Best’s crafts extraordinary and iconic wines of elegance and longevity. Our flagship wine, the Thomson Family Shiraz, has an ‘Exceptional’ designation from the esteemed Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine and Bin No. O Shiraz is rated as ‘Outstanding’.

Best’s has thrived under the stewardship of just two families since 1866. The founding Best family established the original Concongella Vineyard and today, their vision lives on through our family, the Thomson’s, having purchased the property in 1920.

With the inevitable scarcity of Best’s Thomson Family and Bin No. 0 Shiraz wines, Bin No. 1 Shiraz is the wine that gives people their first taste of our style of Great Western Shiraz. Made from Best’s own vineyards as well as trusted local growers, this wine is meticulously crafted with the same attention to detail as the flagship wines. Bin No. 1 Shiraz represents the essence of Best’s Great Western’s winemaking ideals and the distinction of the Great Western region.

Bin No. 1 is a classic, cool-climate, aromatic Shiraz, made in a style that's floral, spicy and peppery yet retains generous fruit characteristics and intensity. It is a well-balanced wine where alcohol does not dominate. This is an elegant wine crafted to drink now, and makes a great accompaniment to food.

"'Best's' touchstones of history are part of what makes them one of my favourite Victorian wine producers (of a pretty long list of course). Something special though. As with this wine. Pours with that satisfying purply hue amongst the black and garnet. So fragrant in the glass. A heady mix of red fruits, herbs, lavender, pepper, fine cedar. In the palate, silkiness, medium weight, sweet red berries, pepper, lick of smoky oak, fine dusty tannins. Finishes soft and then begins to tug with tannin. It's effortless, pure-feeling, bright and so very drinkable. It's a release collectors should flock to.'
