Destination: McLaren Vale
McLaren Vale, South Australia is one of Australia’s premier wine regions, located about 40 minutes south of Adelaide. Known for its rich winemaking history dating back to 1838, McLaren Vale is especially renowned for its Shiraz, though it also produces outstanding Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mediterranean varieties like Tempranillo and Fiano.
The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and mild winters, making it ideal for viticulture. Its diverse soil types contribute to the unique character of its wines. McLaren Vale is home to over 80 cellar doors, ranging from iconic estates to boutique producers, many offering exceptional food and wine pairings.
Beyond wine, McLaren Vale boasts a strong focus on sustainable and organic practices, vibrant food culture, olive groves, and artisanal produce. The nearby coastline adds to its charm, with stunning views and trails like the Shiraz Trail, perfect for cycling or walking between wineries.

Eat
Down the Rabbit Hole
Overlooking the vines, their restaurant “Fiore” has an exceptional menu that is focused on organic, seasonal and local produce. The passion is evident on each plate with each course skilfully executed and visually stunning. You can of course elect for a wine tasting and relax on the bus (you’ll know what we mean when you get there) or on the lush lawns.

Eat
Pizzateca
For us, this place is in our all time top 3 pizza's... and likely at the top end. Fantastic flavour combinations on a dough that is cooked to perfection. The imported Italian wood-fired oven and buzzing atmosphere make this a must visit. It is constantly busy with locals and tourists so booking is highly recommended.
